Why I am Running
I am running for Congress because the people in the Central Valley deserve better; they deserve a representative with a proven track record and the experience and the leadership skills necessary to solve real problems. As a member of the California State Assembly, I always put the needs of my district above partisan politics. Decades of public service have taught me that a member of Congress should be honest, empathetic, courageous, humble, practical, intelligent, and always be willing to put the people’s interests before their own. It is time for new leadership and a fresh approach in the 21st Congressional District.
My paternal grandparents immigrated to the United States over 100 years ago from Mexico and settled in Kern County. My maternal grandparents came from Spain to New Mexico in the 1880’s and the family finally settled in Kern County. My grandparents worked hard to provide a future for their children. My story is the story of the Central Valley. My parents taught me the value of hard work, self-reliance, and public service.
We have serious problems in the Central Valley, and they require serious
solutions. Providing quality affordable health care; improving the quality of our drinking water; creating new good-paying jobs; securing more water for our farmers; reforming immigration; protecting Dreamers, and preparing our schools for the remainder of the 21st Century are some of my top priorities. I am interested in learning your major concerns.
I promise to work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for all residents of the Valley, not just a privileged few. Our children, seniors, veterans, and working families deserve a passionate voice in Washington DC. I am that voice. I am running for Congress to solve problems and to get things done.
The Parra for Congress campaign is off and running. We are pulling people
together who want change. We are getting organized. We have secured dozens of key endorsements. People from all parts of the district are reaching out in support. We are running a grassroots campaign and planning on walking every part of the district from Arvin to Fresno. It is a huge undertaking, and I cannot do it alone.
I am asking for your help. Together we can make a difference and improve the
quality of life for everyone in the Central Valley.
